The Patient list will display all of the patients in the database in the left grid. When a patient name is highlighted, their corresponding cases are displayed in the right grid.
The patient "Grid" on the left works the same way that most grids do in the QuickEMR system with sorting and searching capabilities. For more information on these grid functions, click here.
By default, the patient list will display all patients in the database for all facilities. There are some filters at the top so that the list can be changed to show only patients in a certain facility and/or Active patients only.
*** Active patients should not be confused with Active Cases! An inactive patient usually will indicate that the patient is deceased or that they have moved. An inactive Case means that the case has been discharged. ***

A patient's phone log can be accessed from this screen. Click here for information on the phone log.
When the grid on the left is clicked, the buttons at the bottom of the screen will read "Edit Patient", "New Patient", etc.
To Add a new patient, click the "New Patient" button. The screen below will appear.
To Edit a current patient, search or highlight the patient in the grid and double-click on that row or choose the "Edit Patient" button once the patient is highlighted. The screen below will appear.
To Delete a patient, search or highlight the patient in the grid and double-click on that row or choose the "Delete Patient" button once the patient is highlighted. Deleted patients are still stored in the database, but will not appear in the patient list.
The fields on this screen should be self explanatory. The "Code" is the patient code assigned by either the system or the user. If the code is left blank when adding a new patient, QuickEMR will generate a code based on your "Code Generation" settings.
The "Facility" is the office that the patient will be visiting.
The "Inactive" check box will mark the patient as no longer active in the system and they will not appear on the active patient list anymore. Patients are usually marked as inactive if they will not be seen anymore for reasons such as moving or death.
The Phone Log for the current can also be accessed from this screen.
Once a patient has been added to the database, you are ready to enter their Case information. Click the grid on the right side of the screen and the buttons at the bottom will change to "Edit Case", "New Case", etc. as shown below.

See Cases for infromation on adding or editing a case in the QuickEMR system.
